Win tickets to SFU Public Square’s 2017 Community Summit

The 150th anniversary of Confederation is a critical opportunity to think and engage on Canada’s role in the world. At the same time, global trends show a growing divergence between the values Canada upholds and events taking place outside of our borders.

In light of the possible futures before us, what role does Canada need to play on the world stage?

From February 27– March 8, join us for our 2017 Community Summit as we examine Canada’s opportunities to contribute globally and think about how we might best achieve success.

      Culture / Diplomacy

Culture rests at the heart of human connection. It enables us to cross oceans, find common ground, and build empathy across borders. What role does culture play in building better understanding between China and Canada?

We invite you to connect with Canadian artists who are shaping, guiding, and framing Canada’s relationship with China. Through a series of short vignettes, we will explore the role that culture plays in advancing Canada’s global relationships. Through this evening, we will ask: is cultural diplomacy important? Is culture diplomacy?

Special guests will include Mark Rowswell (Dashan/大山), Chan Hon Goh, Wen Wei Wang, Hank Bull, and Zheng Shengtian.

      PRIZES

Two prize draw winners will each get two tickets to Culture / Diplomacy at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on March 1 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
