Win two weekend festival passes to the 2019 Vancouver South African Film Festival

The Vancouver South African Film Festival is proud to present features and documentaries that explore the culture, history and politics of South Africa – films that inspire, inform, and entertain. The festival is the most significant festival of South African films held anywhere outside of South Africa.

Today, a quarter of a century later, the results of South Africa’s dramatic transition are complex, and often less than straightforward.

This year VSAFF presents a number of films that unpack some of the ways South Africa has changed.  We’re calling it: 25 Years Later – The New Reality.

Some of our films bear directly on the theme: Whispering Truth To Power; Someone To Blame – The Ahmed Timol Inquest; Becoming Visible; Siyabonga; and Sisters of the Wilderness.  Each of these explores the new South Africa in a completely different way.  Not one is a preachy polemic.  Instead, each looks carefully, thoughtfully and creatively at an aspect of contemporary life.

Join us for a three-day celebration of South African film! All proceeds from the festival go to support Education without Borders to provide educational opportunities for disadvantaged and at-risk children through initiatives in South Africa and Canada.
