The principal of an East Vancouver secondary school has written a letter that could create anxiety among families with students enrolled there.
"I am writing to let you know that, based on new information and out of an abundance of caution, Vancouver Coastal Health has notified one of the previously identified classes to 'self-isolate' at home," wrote Sir Charles Tupper's Jason Lauzon on January 19.
This letter came a day after Lauzon had informed parents that a member of the school community had tested positive for COVID-19. He pointed out that this meant exposure had occurred in the school.
"It is important that you know that Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) has contacted any individuals who they have determined need to be informed or a letter directly from Vancouver Coastal Health has been sent to these individuals," Lauzon noted in his second letter.
Both letters were tweeted by Vancouver journalist Salim Jiwa.
