COVID-19: Front-line nurses demand that Vancouver police fine organizers of weekly antimask rallies

    1 of 1 2 of 1

The following online petition is demanding action from the provincial health officer, public safety minister, Vancouver mayor, and Vancouver police chief:

Dr. Bonnie Henry, Provincial Medical Health Officer
              Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth
              Mayor Kennedy Stewart
Chief Adam Palmer, Vancouver Police Department

We are writing to you as front line British Columbia nurses.

We want to express our utter dismay at the apparent refusal of the Vancouver Police Department to enforce emergency health orders against the organized and ongoing violation of these orders by several right wing conspiracist groups. Every weekend since April these groups have gathered hundreds—sometimes thousands—of unmasked individuals at the Art Gallery in violation of Dr. Henry’s orders, to hold rallies and march around the downtown core. None wear masks.

We cannot comprehend why we are expected to continue daily in risking our health and that of our families when public health measures are being continually violated with such contempt.

Under the COVID-19 Related Measures Act, organizers of assemblies like these are subject to a $2,300 fine for each violation. Please enforce the Act.
