Vancouver Coastal Health has added three food and beverage establishments to its list of potential COVID-19 public exposure events. One location was in Vancouver while the other two venues were in Whistler.

One possible exposure was at the religious-themed eatery Hail Mary’s (670 East Broadway) in East Vancouver during operating hours from January 13 to 16.

In Whistler, a potential exposure took place at El Furniture Warehouse (4314 Main Street) during operating hours on January 12 and from January 14 to 21.

The other exposure event occurred at the Hy's Steakhouse & Cocktail Bar (4308 Main Street) during operating hours on January 13 and January 15 to 16.

While both El Furniture Warehouse and Hy's Steakhouse have other locations in B.C., only the specified locations are identified as having potential exposures.

On January 21, Whistler Mayor Jack Crompton issued a message to ask for everyone’s help in stopping the spread of the virus as there had been a “concerning increase” in cases in the community. He noted that new cases rose from 14 to 63 in the Howe Sound area in the preceding week.
