COVID-19 in B.C.: 73 schools with new exposures in all five health regions

At today’s B.C. COVID-19 briefing, provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry once again said that they are not seeing large numbers of transmission events in schools.

She also reiterated that transmission events in schools (which are different from exposure events, or when a positive individual is present at school) remain limited in number.

She said this indicates schools are a “safe place and an important place” for students.

Accordingly, Henry said that after discussions with stakeholders, they decided not to extend the winter break period for schools.

Over the weekend, all five regional health authorities added new exposure dates for a total of 73 schools across the province.
