      Update (July 8):

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) announced today (July 8) that the public notice issued on July 7 about a potential COVID-19 exposure incident at the No. 5 Orange, located at 205 Main Street, now involves a second person who has been diagnosed with the coronavirus and was at the venue on additional dates.

The original notification involved an individual on the premises on July 1 who tested positive.

A second person who was present at the location on July 1, 3, 4, and 7 has also tested positive.

VCH stated it has closed the venue to review its safety plan and to ensure there isn’t any risk to the public.

Anyone who was present at the establishment on those dates is asked to monitor themselves for symptoms for 14 days.

Individuals who develop symptoms should immediately self-isolate and contact health care about testing.

Anyone who is concerned that they may have been exposed and has questions can contact public health staff at 604-675-3900. Information about testing sites is available online

General information about COVID-19 is available at the Vancouver Coastal Health COVID-19 webpage.

      Original article (July 7):

For the third time in the past two weeks, Vancouver health authorities are issuing a public notification about a potential COVID-19 infection event at a nightlife venue—and it’s the second one to take place in a strip bar.

Today (July 7), Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) stated in a news release that an individual who tested positive for COVID-19 attended the No. 5 Orange, which is located at 205 Main Street, on the evening of July 1.

VCH stated that there isn’t any known risk to anyone who attended the venue outside that date, and there isn’t any ongoing risk to the community.

In addition, VCH stated that there isn’t any evidence that this incident is connected to two other recent COVID-19 incidents at Brandi’s Exotic Show Lounge and Hotel Belmont.

Global News reported that No. 5 Orange temporarily closed after being informed of the confirmed case but has since reopened with changes recommended by VCH.

Anyone who was at the No. 5 Orange on July 1 is asked to monitor themselves for symptoms for 14 days.

Those who do develop symptoms are asked to immediately isolate themselves and call 811 for testing (in advance of an appointment).

Anyone who is concerned about being exposed and has questions can contact public health staff at 604-675-3900.
