COVID-19 in B.C.: 86 schools with new exposure dates in four regional health authorities

    1 of 3 2 of 3

Schools may be closed for winter holidays but COVID-19 cases that have been present at schools in recent weeks are still being reported.

Over the past three time periods since the last B.C. COVID-19 update on December 18, four regional health authorities had 86 schools with new exposure dates.

Again, Island Health didn’t have any schools with new exposures.

At today’s provincial briefing, Dr. Bonnie Henry had said that although case numbers are levelling off, public health remains concerned about transmission levels occurring in Interior Health and Northern Health, which are high for their populations.

The number of cases appearing in schools in these health regions reflect that ongoing transmission.

Meanwhile, Fraser Health had the most schools with new exposure dates, and Surrey had one of its highest numbers of schools with new exposures.

(For today’s B.C. COVID-19 update, see this article.)
