Theatre Under the Stars won't be celebrating its 80th year under the evergreens at Malkin Bowl, a sign that COVID-19 restrictions will have lasting effects on the arts and entertainment scene.

This morning, the outdoor summer musical-theatre series in Stanley Park announced it was cancelling its productions of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and Hello, Dolly! in July and August.

In the announcement today the organization said the decision was made for "the safety of our audiences, artists, crews, staff, and volunteers, while supporting our city and those working on the front lines to help flatten the curve".

The organization said that it will be announcing several options to 2020 TUTS subscribers and ticket holders by the end of today.
