COVID-19 in B.C.: 6,288 new cases confirmed over three-day period, including 3,181 in Fraser Health

      The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases remained at alarming levels in the most recent update from the B.C. government.

      Over a three day period, there were 6,288 new cases, though the figure of 1,713 for December 26 to 27 is "preliminary".

      The province recorded a one-day record of 2,522 new cases on December 24 to 25, and another 2,023 cases from December 26 to 27.

      The previous one-day record of 2,441 new cases was set from December 23 to 24.

      The new cases include:

      • 3,181 new cases in Fraser Health
      • 1,482 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health
      • 713 new cases in Interior Health
      • 174 new cases in Northern Health
      • 737 new cases in Island Health
      • one new case in person who resides outside of Canada

      Today's announcement did not mention whether there have been any new fatalities, nor did it reveal the number of patients hospitalized or in intensive care.

      In addition, there was no information provided today on the number of confirmed cases of the Omicron variant in B.C.

      The Ministry of Health plans to resume its regular reporting of COVID-19 cases on Wednesday (December 29).
