jessica CRAIG - Eastside Atelier

Studio 9a, 1310 William St

jessica CRAIG is an emerging Vancouver artist. Her creativity and storytelling is rooted in Sociology, Nursing and Advocacy. Her eccentric mark making and imagery pulls upon emotional, psychological and social inquiries of our society. She is currently working on a Canadian Arts Council Grant exploring front-line nurses’ experience battling the COVID pandemic. She is interviewing nurses across Canada and discovering intimate, meaningful inspirations such as in this piece “Lukewarm Coffee.” In this painting, an outreach nurse in the DTES is still as an elderly client expresses the fears, depression, and isolation that has come with COVID life. Nurses do not just start IVs or perform lifesaving interventions, they also just sit & listen.
