Louise Solecki Weir, Ceramic and Bronze

#410-1000 Parker St (D3)

What's your medium of choice and why?

I begin my creations in clay. It is a powerfully tactile, expressive gift from the earth.

Where do you find your inspiration?

I am inspired by really interesting and accomplished people as well as the characters, expressions, and gestures I see on the street. I especially love the beauty of dance, of children, and unusual features on a face.

Describe your studio space a little. Is it minimal and contained, or more sprawling?

My section of a shared studio on the 4th floor of 1000 Parker has high ceilings, a wall of mirrors (to view my works in progress in reverse), and many pieces of sculpture from figure studies to finished portraits.

What's your favourite thing about the Crawl?

My favorite thing about the Crawl is the camaraderie and excitement it ignites in the artists and the public.

When's your favourite time to create?

I do my best to create during the day but often find I am still working into the evening.
