Come for the draft, and leave with the highly-coveted limited-edition merch.

On Thursday (April 23), the NFL draft moves online for the first time ever in what’s being dubbed Draft-A-Thon. All proceeds from the event will go to COVID-19 relief.

Keeping with the theme of firsts, the event will also see one of the most iconic sporting leagues in the world team up with one of the most famously forward-thinking organizations in the eSports world.

For the first time the NFL will collaborate on merch with a gaming organization, namely FaZe Clan. The L.A.-based gaming and lifestyle behemoth has made headlines this April for a Series A round of mega-fundraising backed by the celebrity likes of Jimmy Iovine and the NBA’s Meyers Leonard.

Out of the collaboration comes a limited-edition hoodies and Ts.

“It’s an absolute honor for FaZe Clan to be teaming up with the NFL and personally a dream come true,” FaZe Clan founder FaZe Banks said in a press release. “Our merch collab and participating in the Draft-A-Thon will be the first time a lot of traditional sports fans and NFL fans will be introduced to esports, so this isn’t only a huge moment for FaZe Clan, but it’s big for esports in general.”

Starting at noon Pacific on Thursday, hoodies (US $80 US) will be up for purchase on both fazeclan.com and nflshop.com, as will T-shirts ($US 40).

FazeClan describes the design as “inspired by the first-ever virtual draft and is reminiscent of the late 1990s/early 2000s football arcade games that FaZe Clan talent grew up playing. The layout of the two helmets represents a head-to-head on a field FaZe Clan is incredibly familiar with: live streaming.”

Draft-A-Thon will be live-streamed on the NFL’s social and digital platforms. Watch for additional coverage on ABC and ESPN.
