Looking to skirt the ever-present queue outside brunch hotspot Café Medina (780 Richards Street)? It’s as simple as making a donation to the BC Hospitality Foundation—but only during the month of February.

In celebration of its 10th anniversary—the Mediterranean-inspired restaurant opened at its original Crosstown location in 2008 before relocating to its downtown digs six years later—Café Medina will be resurrecting its “Front of the Line” fundraiser from February 1 to 28. During this time, keen diners will be able to hop the line by pledging a $25 per-table contribution to the BCHF, a local nonprofit that supports individuals in the hospitality industry who are dealing with a financial crisis related to a health or medical condition.

Reservations for parties of two to six are available at three time slots for every day in February: 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 1 p.m. Those interested in making a donation and booking a table can do so online.

“Marking this very special milestone while also supporting a worthwhile cause just underscores what I was taught, how I was trained and what I continue to believe in—to give back whenever you can and show gratitude wherever possible,” said Café Medina owner Robbie Kane in a press statement. “We are truly thankful for all of our loyal fans who have helped make Medina a must-stop for locals and visitors alike for the past 10 years.”

Popular for its Mediterranean-influenced breakfast dishes, Belgian waffles, and coffee program, Café Medina has been involved in a number of philanthropic partnerships over the years, including with the Movember Foundation and Mealshare. The downtown Vancouver eatery makes regular appearances in the “best brunch” and “best breakfast” categories of the Straight's reader-voted Best of Vancouver and Golden Plates surveys, respectively.
