Lunar New Year has officially arrived, and many families will be celebrating the entire weekend.

There are many way to welcome the Year of the Dog, including checking out the Lunar New Year activities taking place around town, enjoying a hearty feast with your loved ones, or indulging in some tasty Chinese desserts.

If you have a bottomless stomach during this Asian holiday, you can pop by a few confectionary and pastry shops that are offering some Lunar New Year specials this season.

Here are three places offering some festive (and lucky) treats around town.

      Twg Tea

      1. TWG Tea Salon and Boutique (1070 West Georgia Street)

This upscale tea shop and dining spot is serving up a special Lunar New Year tea set (through February 28, 2018). The limited edition menu ($48 per person, plus taxes and gratuity) is served on a three tiered platter and includes French and Asian-inspired sweet and savoury bites. Guests will be able to indulge in items like caramel tea-infused miso maple sablefish, duck breast lettuce wraps with Lotus Jade tea, Alfonso tea mango pudding, and more. Pair it with its Weekend in Hong Kong tea (green tea with wild rhubarb, blossoms, and malty toffee) or Silver Moon tea (green tea blend with berries, vanilla, and a hint of spice).

      Beta5 Chocolates

      2. Beta5 Chocolates (413 Industrial Avenue)

This fan-favourite sweets outlet is celebrating Lunar New Year with a few different lucky items, including its popular Mandarin Crunch polygon chocolate bar (66 percent dark chocolate, freeze-dried mandarin, and caramelized rice puff) with bright red packaging that is supposed to resemble lai see (lucky red envelopes). Its photogenic mandarin cream puffs (available through February 18) are also on the menu, made with rice mousse, crispy puffed rice, mandarin curd, and chocolate stems and leaves. Beta5 has also launched a special brunch menu, and will be serving four different croissant flavours for the Lunar New Year weekend (available February 17 and 18).

      Soirette

      3. Soirette (1433 West Pender Street)

Satisfy your sweet tooth this holiday with some limited edition cakes and macarons, if you want to take a break from all the leen go (sticky rice cakes) you may be eating at home. Soirette has created a matcha-black sesame-flavoured cake to ring in the Year of the Dog, as well as mandarin-chocolate and mango-flavoured macarons (which have a cute puppy character printed on them). Go for the bright red Lunar New Year cookies if you are hoping for extra luck and prosperity.
