Over 100 restaurants are expected to donate a portion of their proceeds to people affected by HIV/AIDS on March 22 as part of the 24th annual Dining Out for Life.

The yearly fundraising event, which takes place in over 50 cities in Canada and the United States, will see eateries across the Lower Mainland and in Whistler pledging their support to A Loving Spoonful, a local nonprofit that provides meals, nutritional counselling, and meal planning for those living with or affected by HIV/AIDS and co-existing illnesses in Metro Vancouver.

These restaurants will donate 25 percent of their sales to the organization during their service hours on March 22. So far, over 40 establishments, including Bodega on Main, Fable, and Wildebeest, have been confirmed to participate.

Since its launch in 1994, Dining Out for Life has raised more than $3.5 million for the cause, which has help supply an average of 100,000 meals per year to individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS in the region.
