Stella Artois issues recall for beer bottles due to potential glass particles

Today (April 2), Stella Artois announced a recall of specific packages of beer that may contain glass particles in them.

The recall includes six-packs, 12-packs, 18-packs, 24-packs, and Best of Belgium multipacks of 330 ml (11.2 counes) bottles sold in Canada and the U.S., in addition to Stella Artois Légère six-packs and 12-packs sold in the U.S.

The recall is linked to bottles from a third-party production facility that affects less than one percent of glass bottles sold in North America annually. A packaging flaw may cause a small piece of glass to chip off and potentially fall into the beverage.

Stella Artois cans, draft, or bottles with other production codes are not affected.

A list of packages and production codes are listed on a recall website and can also be verified at the website as well. Customers can also call the company's consumer hotline at 1-855-215-5824.

Consumers are advised to check the codes on the back label of the bottles or on the side of cardboard cartons.
