$100K in alcohol recovered following VPD investigation of internal theft from Liquor Distribution Branch

It's a good thing that the Liquor Distribution Branch isn't ready to keep cannabis on the premises yet.

That's because a recent police raid strongly suggests there may have been a thief on the inside who has been making off with a lot of expensive booze.

Who knows how much weed might have been stolen if it was sitting in some LDB warehouse?

In April, the VPD was contacted by the LDB in connection with an "internal-theft investigation".

"Detectives from our Property Crime Unit worked with the LDB to collect evidence that led to the execution of a search warrant at a Delta home on May 15th where over $100,000 in alcohol was recovered," the VPD said in a news release.

One Delta resident and two Surrey residents have been arrested, but have since been released "pending further investigation".

One of the suspects is an LDB employee.

"This investigation remains active and we are continuing to work with our partners at the LDB to determine if there is evidence of additional offences," the VPD stated.
