Baos (Chinese steamed buns filled with tasty ingredients), rice bowls, and dumplings found at a popular Coal Harbour food spot will be heading to another neighbourhood in the city come fall.

Heritage Asian Eatery (1108 West Pender Street) is prepping to open its second location in Vancouver (382 West Broadway) later this year, which is conveniently situated next to the Broadway-City Hall Canada Line station.

The 2,300-square-foot space is licensed and can accommodate 40 guests. Food-lovers can expect the same kind of vibes at its upcoming brick-and-mortar shop—a no-fuss counter-service establishment that focuses on providing a casual and communal atmosphere.

Chef and co-owner Felix Zhou (who competed on Top Chef Canada’s sixth season) alongside partners Natasha Romero and Paul Zhang will be bringing its flavourful and seasoning-heavy Asian comfort food to the new spot.

Fan-favourite items like pork belly bao, shiitake rice bowl, five-spice chicken wings, and fried cauliflower will be available. We expect its popular dessert—golden mantou (deep-fried Chinese steamed buns) served with matcha condensed milk—to be served as well (if it wasn’t, there would be an outcry).

New menu picks and a chef’s tasting menu are also in the planning—so stay tuned for more details and updates on new culinary creations at this eatery.

“Our team is so excited to write a second chapter in Heritage’s ongoing story in a new neighbourhood,” said Zhou in a press statement. “We are so grateful for the response we received to our first location and look forward to sharing our love of food and a little piece of our heritage with guests in Mount Pleasant this fall.”
