Canada Day is quickly approaching, and a local pastry shop will be celebrating our country’s 151st birthday with a treat that’s combines two things you never thought would go together: poutine and ice cream.

The Pie Hole (3497 Fraser Street and 7832 6th Street, Burnaby), known for its signature sweet and savoury pies, will be serving up pie poutine sundaes from June 28 to July 6.

      Yes, you read that correctly.

It may sound strange at first, but don’t act surprised—we’ve all tried dipping French fries in our ice cream cones. Don’t fret if you’re not a fan of savoury sweets, because this limited edition item doesn’t actually feature any salty ingredients.

Made with two scoops of Rocky Point Ice Cream’s vanilla ice cream, pie-crust fries, maple-buttercream curds, and topped with warm maple caramel or “gravy”, this unique frozen treat is something you don’t see often.

For those who are curious to check out this treat, you can find it at the Pie Hole’s Fraser Street location.

      Oh Canada, eh?
