It’s no secret that the Fairmont Hotel Group knows a thing or two about hosting decadent afternoon teas. For those who have a love for this midday tradition, mark your calendars for an upcoming special event that will be filled with fresh scones and finger sandwiches, alongside some magical fairy dust.

The fourth annual Princess Tea Party returns to Fairmont Vancouver Airport (3111 Grant McConachie Way, Richmond) on July 20 from 1 to 4 p.m. It’s an afternoon affair that will feature a children’s edition of Fairmont’s signature high tea, complemented with special appearances by crowd-favourite Disney princesses—think Cinderella, Belle, and Elsa!

Guests can don their favourite princess attire, walk the red carpet, and receive a tiara or crown to mark their importance. Musical entertainment and a photo booth will also be on site, which pretty much guarantees an awesome day for a royal in-the-making.

As for the afternoon tea fare, you’ll begin with sweet butter and double-chocolate scones paired with clotted cream and organic strawberry jam. Savoury items include everything from grilled cheese sandwiches to peanut butter-and-jelly rolls.

Sweet treats range from caramel popcorn bars to milk chocolate-fudge candy apples, and birthday cake cupcakes to cotton candy macarons—treats fit for a princess.

Tickets ($99 for adults and $49 for children 12 and under, plus taxes and gratuity) can be booked in advance by calling 604-248-3281. 25 percent of the ticket proceeds go toward YVR For Kids and Canuck Place—charities that help children in need.
