Businessman Raymond Huynh has an idea for the old Red Robin spot on West Broadway.

Huynh wants to put in a new karaoke joint on this part of Vancouver.

It will be called Prive Restaurant.

Huynh has applied for a development permit with the city to convert the former location of the Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews in Unit 200 at 1001 West Broadway into a restaurant with karaoke.

In a letter to city planners, the businessman wrote that the new establishment will “serve pub style food and drinks for casual dining and karaoke participation entertainment”.

The restaurant will operate seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.

The spot’s outdoor patio will open seasonally as a “garden style lounge”.

There will be live sports streaming on TV at the dining area.

“Inside the restaurant there are 12 private dining rooms of various sizes with Karaoke interactive entertainment,” according to Huynh.

      Karaoke singing ends midnight.

The larger karaoke rooms will have “private accessible washrooms”, which Huynh said will “add to the exclusivity of the private room experience”.

The City of Vancouver will receive comments from the public about the proposed establishment until August 7.
