La Taqueria’s largest Vancouver location opens on Yukon Street

It was a bittersweet farewell when La Taqueria shuttered its Cambie Street location a few months ago due to building redevelopments—the busy eatery served up authentic Mexican bites in the high-traffic area.

But when one door closes, another eventually opens.

La Taqueria officially launches its largest outpost in Mount Pleasant (2450 Yukon Street) today (September 17). The 2,000-square-foot establishment features two patios, a bar, and a spacious dine-in area.

Its interior design is highlighted by black and turquoise hues, paired with modern and antique furnishings. If you’re keen on getting that perfect food photo, this is the place to bring your camera.

Its two outdoor patios can seat plenty of customers.

Guests will be able to find a menu that is similar to its other locations, serving fan-favourites such as Mexican tacos, burritos, quesadillas, salad bowls, nachos, and mouthwatering churros.

Libations include a rotating selection of local craft beers, as well as a cocktail program created in collaboration with Rough & Tumble (a local bar-and-drinks consultancy). Quench your thirst with booze-infused creations such as Jalisco After Midnight (El Jimador Reposado, Pisco, vermouth, Cynar, cacao, and grapefruit oil) and the Shifting Sands (Fino, Becherovka, Triple sec, honey, citrus, and mint).

When you have this much space in a restaurant, it means you can get creative with your offerings. Live music performances will be available on select evenings, and its kitchen will be taking on more catering orders and work as a test kitchen to create new tacos.

To top it all off, La Taqueria is also going to be launching its own tequila brand—La Taqueria, Tequila de la Casa—a 100 percent blue agave in small-craft batches.

La Taqueria’s Yukon location is the last of a string of developments for the local eatery. It opened its fifth Metro Vancouver establishment on Main Street in February, and reopened its original Hastings Street location in March.
