If you've got a pie that you think is a winner, here's a local contest that you can test out whether it truly is or not.
The last day of the Granville Island Farmers Market (which has run every Thursday since June 7 at Triangle Square) will be held tomorrow (September 27)
The ninth annual Fall Festival will be held to celebrate the final harvest of the market, running from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and featuring children's activities and food demonstrations.
To top it off, the festival's ninth annual pie contest will also be held.
Anyone interested in entering the contest can submit a pie that is either sweet or savoury, and even non-edible pies can be entered in the artistic pie category.
The top three pies will be rewarded with prizes, as well as a prize for the most creative pie. Third place will get $35 and a ribbon, second place receives $50 and a ribbon, and the top spot as well as the most artistic pie will each receive $100 and a trophy.
Pies can be submitted (along with the recipe) between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. at Triangle Square (1680 Johnston Street) in front of the Bread Affair.
Only one pie can be entered per person or group.
All pie fillings and crust must be made from scratch, and cannot require refrigeration (as none is available).
Pies will be judged (beginning at 1 p.m.) on appearance, flavour, texture, and creativity. Winners will be announced at 2 p.m.More
