Cook Culture launches cooking classes in downtown Vancouver location

For those who would rather learn to cook alongside a professional chef instead of trying to figure out a complicated and photo-less recipe you found from a dusty cookbook, there’s a new spot for you to check out in the city.

Cook Culture (various locations) has recently started offering cooking classes at its downtown Vancouver establishment (377 Howe Street), which now features a fully-working teaching kitchen after the store underwent a full renovation earlier this year.

The B.C.-based kitchenware retailer is primarily known as a purveyor of cooking supplies and gadgets. But the local company has been offering cooking classes at its North Vancouver and Victoria locations for years, and now its Howe Street spot can also be a learning hub for amateur chefs.

Its communal-style cooking classes include demonstration-only or hands-on, and range from basic cooking lessons (knife skills and baking boot camps) to gourmet culinary classes ( Spanish tapas and Asian street food).

Learn to make everything from authentic Italian dishes (chili-parmesan lemon-poached cod and golden-toasted crostini) to Japanese bites (pork gyoza and Japanese-style wings), and basic Thai eats (green coconut curry and mango sticky rice) to global curries (Indian masoor dahl and togarashi Japanese curry).

If you’re someone who never steps foot into the kitchen, don’t fret. If you mess up, you can always count on the cooking instructor to make sure you’re on the right track (read: don’t get sick from food poisoning).

All the class schedules are online, which are offered on most nights of the week. For more information, click here.
