The Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhood will be losing a fan-favourite eatery next week.

Campagnolo Roma (2297 East Hastings) has sadly announced that November 8 will be its last day of operations. The Italian food outlet has had a successful run since its opening in 2011, attracting customers that range from pizza-lovers to young families.

Co-owners Robert Belcham and Tom Doughty created a menu that specialized in flavours from Rome. Dishes like antipasti, pasta, and pizzas, and desserts were served in a cozy atmosphere.

Here’s the full statement posted on Campagnolo Roma’s social media account:

“I am sad to say that Roma’s last day of operations will be November 8th. We thank all of the amazing customers for your support of our small business over the last 7.5 years. Also thank you to everyone who ever worked a service here, without you, we would have not been the neighbourhood spot we strived to be.”

It isn’t clear what factors played a part in the owners’ decision to close down the restaurant, but the Straight has reached out to Belcham for more information.

Don’t fret if this is your go-to spot—Campagnolo Roma’s sister establishments, Campagnolo Main Street and Monarch Burger, continue to operate.
