A local chocolatier has made Kitsilano doubly sweet.

Koko Monk Chocolates has opened its second location in Kitsilano at 2883 West Broadway (between Macdonald Street and Bayswater Street).

The new 1,100-square-foot space, which opened on October 16, seats 16 patrons in its hot-chocolate lounge and features an onsite production facility.

It's three times the size of its first location, also within Kitsilano, at 1849 West 1st Avenue (near Cypress Street), which opened in 2013 and seats about six to eight people.

Koko Monk founder and chocolate maker Paul Dincer launched a crowdfunding campaign in spring 2018 to raise $10,000 for the new location.

The shop serves a variety of artisan chocolates, including raw-origin-bean bars, vegan bars, sugar-free options, and more.

Among its beverages are Turkish coffee, espresso drinks, and hot chocolate.

Their 14 inventive flavours range from Lyric and Dagger (black sesame hot chocolate with lemon and lime caramel) and  Brunette Bangle (curry hot chocolate with coconut liquor) to Strange Gravity (oregano hot chocolate with melon and anise) and Rashomon (white miso hot chocolate with matcha tea and sake), with flights of hot chocolate available on Saturdays.

Also thanks to the crowdfunding campaign, Koko Monk has purchased new equipment to produce ready-to-brew hot chocolate cubes that will enable customers to make their hot chocolate flavours at home, including their original recipe, Turkish mocha, and matcha white hot chocolate.
