Mensch Jewish Delicatessen brings back its hot pastrami sandwiches for one-night pop-up

      You can't keep a good mensch down. Especially when he makes incredible sandwiches.

      Mensch Jewish Delicatessen has been missing in action for some time.

      The deli, which specializes in slow-brined, smoked, and handcut New York–style hot pastrami sandwiches on fresh rye and homemade pickles, was launched by Israeli-born Nitzan Cohen, who has since become the corporate executive chef for the Storm Crow Alliance restaurant group.

      Mensch has held various pop-ups around town and briefly had a permanent Broadway location in 2017 before closing by the end of the year.

      For those who have missed Mensch's trademark massive sandwiches, Cohen will be holding a pop-up event on December 11 at Faculty Brewing (1830 Ontario Street), starting at 6 p.m. and continuing on as long as supplies last. (Mensch and Faculty Brewing previously teamed up in December 2016).

      Also on the menu will be beet-cured lox with labneh (Middle Eastern cream cheese) on a fresh poppyseed bagel.
