People often say the best part of the holidays is being able to spend time with loved ones—for the most part, it’s true. But the festive season is also synonymous with good food, especially gourmet dishes that are only offered for a limited time in local dining spots.

One of the most popular places to get a seasonal favourite in the city is at Meat and Bread (various locations). Its turducken sandwich ($14 each), a roasted turkey-duck-chicken combo, is something that food-lovers look forward to each year.

Available at all three of its Vancouver locations (370 Cambie Street, 1033 West Pender Street, and 625 Robson Street) from December 20 to 22, the mouthwatering masterpiece features three different kinds of meats, carved stuffing mixed with gravy, freshly baked ciabatta buns, cranberry-apple mostarda, pumpkin seed crumble, and radicchio red cabbage slaw.

The eatery makes this popular sandwich by deboning the entire turkey and grinding the duck, which enables the chefs to season the roast thoroughly and create an evenly-cooked turducken.

For those who don’t live in Vancouver but are hoping to get their hands on this grub, it will be available at Meat and Bread’s brick-and-mortar shops in Abbotsford, Seattle, and Calgary.

The turducken will be offered at the beginning of the day at each location, until supplies last. Be sure to get there early to avoid any disappointment. If you miss out this year, there’s always 2019.
