Having started out in Vancouver’s Chinatown in 2016, Virtuous Pie has announced the forthcoming opening of its fifth location—with other North American outlets to be announced in coming months.

The new outpost of the fast-casual, 100-percent plant-based pizza and ice-cream restaurant is set to open in Victoria in the spring of 2019. It will be situated along a bike route at 530 Pandora Avenue.

At more than 2,300 square feet, the Vancouver Island location will be the biggest of the bunch to date, with 61 seats, a 650-square-foot outdoor patio, and a bar area—a first for the vegetarian eatery.

While food-menu details are still being worked out, on the drinks side of things, this Pie will partner with local wineries and craft breweries.

Designing the new space is Vancouver’s Simcic Uhrich Architects, which was also behind Strathcona Brewery, Juniper Restaurant, Pendulum Gallery, and Grace Church Vancouver.

There are two locations in Vancouver (the other one being at UBC) as well as one in Toronto and one in Portland. There are more locations to come, according to a press release.

Virtuous Pie makes its nut cheeses and plant-based ice creams in-house.

“Our mission is to accelerate the adoption of a plant-based diet by providing delicious, affordable, and fast plant-based food options in an inclusive environment,” the company says on its website.
