Those who work or live near Vancouver City Hall have another destination to check out whenever they crave Asian comfort food.

Heritage Asian Eatery has officially opened its second location (382 West Broadway), bringing its roster of well-loved rice bowls, noodles, baos (Chinese steamed buns filled with various savoury ingredients), and other small bites to the busy neighbourhood.

The 2,300-square-foot space offers counter-service in a casual and minimalistic atmosphere, offering seats for up to 50 guests.

In celebration of its opening that coincided with Lunar New Year, the food spot is offering a limited edition crispy pork bao ($5) until February 11. Made with crispy pork terrine, kimchi, and mustard, proceeds from this special bao will go toward the B.C. Family Hearing Resource Centre.

“It’s been a long time coming and we thank all of our loyal fans for being patient,” Felix Zhou, chef and owner of Heritage Asian Eatery alongside partners Natasha Romero and Paul Zhang, said in a press statement. “We’re thrilled to introduce the latest member of our family to a brand-new neighbourhood in time for Chinese New Year and give Mount Pleasant a little taste of our own heritage.”
