There’s a new watering-hole for city-dwellers check out in downtown Vancouver—its prime location next to the Scotiabank Theatre will surely make it a hot spot for movie-goers pre and post-show.
Ballyhoo Public House (888 Burrard Street) quietly opened its doors on the weekend, occupying the former space of the Winking Judge pub.
It’s the Donnelly Group’s (Cinema Public House, the Lamplighter, Library Square, Royal Dinette) latest concept, which adds to its roster of food and drink haunts along Canada’s west and east coasts.
The vintage-meets-modern space features plenty of comfortable, upholstered seating, a pool table, and outdoor seats.
Besides a bar program that consists of local craft beers, cocktails, and other libations, guests will find a menu featuring comforting pub bites like mozzarella sticks, crispy cauliflower, wings, kimchi grilled cheese sandwich, and pizza. High-tea sandwiches are also on offer, as well as a summer strawberry shortcake paired with pistachio gelato.
Its kitchen is gearing up to launch a weekend brunch menu, which will include everything from fresh-pressed juices to eggs benedict, and from chicken and waffles to breakfast burgers.
