Drink of the Week: The Deighton Cup's Foraged Furlong
Nightingale's Tim Lamden came up with the race-day cocktail
One of the city’s most stylin’ events, the Deighton Cup returns to Hastings Racecourse (188 North Renfrew Street) on Saturday (July 20) for its 11th year.
Attendees will be donning their finest fascinators and pocket squares to take in the races—and some refreshing derby cocktails.
Nightingale bar manager Tim Lambden created this edition’s signature drink. The Foraged Furlong, a fun spin on a classic Collins, makes for a nice, light, summer sipper.
Foraged Furlong
2 oz The Botanist Islay Dry Gin
1 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
½ oz yellow Chartreuse sugar syrup
Splash of elderflower syrup
Drop of lemon balm
Soda water
Elderflower sprigs
To make yellow Chartreuse sugar syrup, mix a 1:1 ratio of simple syrup to yellow Chartreuse.
Add ice along with the first five ingredients to a cocktail shaker, shake and strain into a Collins glass topped with ice.
Finish with soda water and garnish with elderflower sprigs.
