Local Mexican-meets-West Coast food spot, Tacofino, is finally making its way to Vancouver’s West Side.

The popular taco and burrito joint announced it will be opening in Kitsilano (1909 West 4th Avenue) this fall, increasing its footprint in the city to a total of six locations.

The soon-to-open counter-service eatery will occupy a 1,985-sqaure-foot space, formerly occupied by Szechun Restaurant.

Similar to its sister establishments around town, Tacofino Kitsilano will offer dine-in and takeout options from a menu crafted by its regional executive chef Stefan Hartmann, who earned his own Michelin star at the restaurant he ran in Berlin, and is currently on the latest season of Iron Chef Canada.

Guests can expect the same sort of laidback, Californian-surfer interior vibe in its newest brick-and-mortar outpost, which is being designed by Shiloh Sukkau—who has worked on various Tacofino locations.

Tacofino’s other local outlets are located in Mount Pleasant, Gastown, Yaletown, Hastings-Sunrise, Downtown Vancouver; it also operates three food trucks around the city.
