Those who obsessively stalk the local food scene on Instagram should be familiar with Fufú Café (1266 West Broadway) by now, thanks to the countless photos and videos posted by bloggers and media who got a sneak peek of the Fairview establishment.

The new dessert spot that specializes in Japanese soufflé pancakes is hosting its grand opening tomorrow (September 7), and will be celebrating by giving away free stacks of its classic-style, fluffy pancakes to the first 50 guests.

Doors open at 11 a.m., and we’re sure a healthy amount of people will be standing in line in hopes of getting their hands on some free grub.

But if you’re not one of the lucky (read: dedicated) customers rewarded with free pancakes after waiting in a presumably long line, you can still try the goods from Fufú Café by shelling out some coin.

Only the classic-style soufflé pancakes will be available at the shop tomorrow, which can be served two-ways, such as with salted cheese cream with icing sugar.

Only its classic-style soufflé pancakes ($12) will be available tomorrow, with the choice of different toppings: maple syrup, butter, and icing sugar; or salted cheese cream with icing sugar.

On regular business days, its menu includes flavours like mixed fruit (with classic whipped cream, dry raspberry flakes, and icing sugar), matcha mocha (with shiratamako [glutinous rice flour] balls, housemade matcha sauce, matcha whipping cream, double-chocolate raspberry ice cream, and white and matcha chocolate flakes), and earl-grey milk and tapioca pearl.

Drinks like fresh fruit sodas, tea lattes, espresso beverages, and cheese-foam fruit tea are available.

Future menu additions will include savoury soufflé pancakes and bubble tea.
