Takeout with Tammy is the Georgia Straight’s new food series, where we invite renowned guests to chat over mouthwatering takeout fare.

Tessa Virtue is a Canadian household name: she’s a 5-time Olympic champion alongside ice-dance partner Scott Moir, and they are often considered the best ice dancers of all time.  

Although Virtue and Moir officially announced last week they will be stepping away from ice dancing in a video posted to their Twitter accounts, fans of the duo can still catch them on ice for a couple more months.

While promoting her upcoming Rock the Rink tour in the city (the immersive skating performance is scheduled for October 7 at Vancouver’s Thunderbird Arena), she took a bit of time out of her busy schedule to chat with us over some tasty treats.

We chowed down on some of giovane café + eatery + market’s cult-favourite sugar buns at the Fairmont Pacific Rim (1038 Canada Place), and Virtue dished on everything from her favourite Vancouver eatery to snack of choice to how to collect and redeem Air Miles (she’s an ambassador for the travel rewards company).
