In what's good news for dive bar enthusiasts, but bad news for your liver, Vancouver's iconic Cambie Bar & Grill (300 Cambie Street) has announced that it won't be closing its doors next month.

In June of this year, the fabled 122-year-old watering hole confirmed to the Straight the legendary bar would be shuttering on November 30 as the result of the property being sold as part of a divorce settlement.

Today, management said that it has managed to secure a new lease.

The iconic establishment will continue to pour drinks and serve up bar bites for the foreseeable future, and its upstairs budget lodging, the Cambie hostel, will continue to run as well.

The Cambie hostel and pub in Nanaimo will change ownership at the end of October, and will operate under a new brand.

We’re sure many Vancouverites will be happy to know the Cambie will continue to be a special piece of the city.

In a news release, Sally Negus, who oversees the bar as part of the Cambie Malone's group, said, "It was never my choice of wish to close The Cambie, so we did everything we could to keep it going."

      Here's the full press statement.
