There weren’t any ghosts, witches, or vampires at the Georgia Straight office yesterday (October 31), but it felt very much like Halloween even without any costumes (save for a few tiny guests sporting adorable festive suits).
We sent out exclusive invitations to our newsletter subscribers, and those lucky enough to score an invite got to taste some delicious sweets from local chocolate shops.
Doors opened at 3 p.m., and guests were able to sample treats from Koko Monk Chocolates, Beta5 Chocolates, Mink Chocolates, Mon Paris Patisserie, and Chez Christophe inside the Straight’s lobby. It was basically adult trick-or-treating, and there were more than enough confections to satisfy everyone’s sweettooth.
Some of the featured chocolate flavours included birch bourbon (with vanilla marshmallow and birch ganache) from Chez Christophe, yuzu gold skulls from Mink Chocolates, dried figs with mint ganache and red wine from Mon Paris, pear and blue cheese from Koko Monk Chocolates, and salted caramel lollipops from Beta5 Chocolates.
The wide range of chocolate samples shows how Vancouver is lucky to have so many chocolate vendors creating unique and diverse products around town.
Be sure to subscribe to our newsletter to stay in the loop on our next #GSFoodAffair.
