For the 23rd year, the Straight’s Golden Plates competition will steer hungry readers to the best of the best restaurants in Metro Vancouver.
Golden Plate winners are determined by reader votes, revealing the top three restaurants in each of the categories created by the team at the Straight.

Dine Out Vancouver Festival is the sponsor of the 2020 Golden Plates competition. And it will provide a grand prize of $1,500 in dining certificates from various Metro Vancouver restaurants. Readers are entered to win the prize by voting in the contest, which goes live on November 28.
The 18th annual festival takes place from January 17 to February 2, 2020, and is all about community, collaboration, and sharing Vancouver’s culinary story with the world.
Restaurants participating in the 2020 Dine Out Vancouver Festival will be offering delicious fixed-menus to culinary enthusiasts, to showcase their unique cuisine and dining experiences. The festival features a full 17-day schedule of exciting food and drink-themed events.
The highly anticipated festival brings together more than 300 restaurants, plus wineries, craft breweries, and suppliers to display all that Vancouver’s vibrant food scene has to offer.
The Golden Plates include almost every category of food, like “Best Mexican” and “Best Lebanese”, as the restaurant scene in Vancouver is exceedingly diverse.
There are also specific categories such as “Best Desserts” (for those with a sweet tooth), “Best Juice Bar” (for those who overindulged during the holidays), and “Best Pizzeria” (for literally everyone).
Additionally, there are categories for foodies who enjoy a side of entertainment with their meal. They include “Best Restaurant for Watching the Game”, “Best Pre-Game Restaurant”, and the “Best Eatery with Live Music”.
Straight readers can also select the best places to eat in the various geographic areas of Vancouver, including Chinatown, Gastown, South Granville, and Yaletown.
When it comes to choosing where to eat, searching through all the suggestions on the Internet can be daunting, but the Straight makes it easier. After the contest closes, all winners can be conveniently found on the Straight website for future reference.

Copper Chimney serves perfectly spiced Indian dishes like classic butter chicken as guests take in the warm and cozy restaurant atmosphere.
