With even more snow and freezing temperatures predicted for Vancouver’s upcoming forecast, the timing couldn’t be better for a hot cocoa event to return to the city.

The 10th annual Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival kicks off January 18 and runs through February 14, 2020, giving those with penchant for sweet drinks ample time to indulge in some truly creative beverages.

A record-breaking 114 flavours will be featured from 44 vendors around town this year, which includes chocolate shops, bakeries, cafes, restaurants, and ice-cream and gelato parlours.

Some of the newcomers to the 2020 edition of this highly anticipated festival include 1931 Gallery Bistro, Baker and Table Café, Bellaggio Café, Chez Christophe, Ladurée, Origo Club, and Passione Gelato, among others.

One of the newcomers is Origo Club in Richmond.

Unique concoctions that will be offered include:

#7 “Japanese First Kiss” from Baker and Table, made with Callebaut Belgian hot chocolate and yuzu (Japanese citrus) and served with a “lucky cat” mocha bun.

#9 “The Surrealist” from Beaucoup Bakery, which features a shot of white-almond chocolate served in a cookie cup, paired with a sable chocolate spoon.

#41 “Chilly Chili Chai” from Chocolate Arts, which features a chipotle-spiked, chocolate-chai frozen parfait made with hot chocolate, and served with a spiced shortbread.

If you have no problem splurging on drinks, check out this $98 hot chocolate:

#77 “The Legend of Daryl Hannah” from Mink Chocolates, made with Cacao Barry 34% Zephyr white-sipping chocolate, served with organic and sustainable Fraser River white-sturgeon caviar and a “Mermaid’s Choice” chocolate bar.

The post-holiday sugar rush is real, and no one should be complaining.
