Photos: A look inside the new Fresh St. Market at Vancouver House
Walking into the new Fresh St. Market at Vancouver House (1423 Continental Street) is a bit like visiting a Disney theme park: you ogle over neon lights, everything smells good, and you don’t know what to check out first.
The “new-concept” grocery store opened at the Westbank property earlier this month, and has already been generating plenty of buzz with its different market “areas”.
Fresh fruit and produce are perfectly lined up in “Welcome to our Garden in the City”, which is situated next to the “Sweet Cheese” station that has hired a full-time cheese monger.
If you’re planning to curate your own cheese and charcuterie boards at home, check out the “Pacific Street Deli” section that has stocked up with meats from North Vancouver’s Two Rivers Meats.
High-quality aged beef can be found at the “Chop House”, and there’s plenty of sustainable catch from the “Howe Sound Seafood” area.
Sweet tooths will enjoy roaming through the “Good Bakes” counter, which carries everything from cakes to brownies, and from mile-high cinnamon buns to scones. The “That’s One Hot Cookie” station serves up freshly made, warm cookies throughout the day.
Shoppers can also grind their own coffee, make their own peanut butter, and enjoy a meal at the grocery shop’s in-house restaurant: Fork Lift Kitchen & Bar.
Its menu includes items like burgers, noodles, and tacos using house-made tortillas. The 50-seat eatery also has various craft beers on tap, as well as ciders and wines.
There’s a café in the front of the store that serves sandwiches, parfaits, fresh coffee from Lion’s Bay Coffee Company, and juices and smoothies from Glory Juice Co.
