Shuck Lobster Man oysters for Valentine's Day

Whether or not oysters are actually aphrodisiacs, they remain a perennial favourite for Valentine’s Day. I like to buy them at the Lobster Man on Granville Island (1807 Mast Tower Road), where you can choose from up to 10 varieties—from B.C., Washington state, and back east—and personally pluck them live from the tanks.

Prices start at $1 per local oyster, such as Royal Miyagi and Light House, with the popular Kusshi variety going for $1.75 each. The store sells oyster knives for $8.95, and its website offers shucking instructions.
