Bestie brings currywurst to Chinatown

If you’ve never tried currywurst, Bestie (105 East Pender Street) offers a charming introduction to this Berlin street food inside its spiffy new Chinatown eatery. A sliced, all-natural pork sausage ($8) is served atop French fries with curried ketchup; you attack the whole thing with a stubby fork. The light, surprisingly mild condiment makes the dish, and if you’re not into pork, other sausage options include turkey, lamb, and a remarkably good veggie wurst. Pretzels, sauerkraut, and salads such as kohlrabi coleslaw make it a meal. Beer is coming; see the Bestie website.
