One of Hong Kong’s top Chinese restaurants will make its debut in Vancouver next year. Mott 32 is slated to open at the Trump International Hotel & Tower Vancouver (1151 West Georgia Street) in summer 2016.

The high-end restaurant owned by Maximal Concepts specializes in Cantonese cuisine with Sichuan and Beijing influences.

At its Hong Kong location in the city’s Central district dim sum is served daily. Mott 32, which was named “Best New Restaurant” by Hong Kong Tatler in 2014, also specializes in roast duck and cocktails.

Another international brand will be brought in to add to Vancouver’s nightlife scene. Drai’s, which runs a beach club, nightclub, and afterhours club in Las Vegas, will open its first Canadian location in the Trump tower.

During a news conference in Vancouver in 2013, Donald Trump and Vancouver real estate developers Holborn Group and TA Global announced that the Trump International Hotel & Tower Vancouver would feature the city’s first pool bar, as well as a restaurant, champagne bar, nightclub, fitness centre, and spa.

The building, which will include a 147-room hotel and 217 residential suites above the hotel, comes at a $360-million price tag.

“We’re looking to have this be something very, very special,” Trump told reporters. "I believe it’s going to be a fantastic success. I love Vancouver and the people who live here. We had another opportunity in Vancouver and this is the one we chose. And we’re going to make it the best.”

The exterior of the 58-storey building will feature a twisting Arthur Erickson design.
