Vancouver Craft Beer Week has released its schedule of events, with tickets on sale for the May 29 to June 7 festival.

There's a lumberjack theme this year, with the signature tasting event happening at the Fair Grounds at the Pacific National Exhibition on June 6 and 7 in conjunction with the Stihl Timbersports Western Canada Finals.

The festival's signature beer this year is a Campfire Kolsch, with proceeds going to the Vancouver Firefighters’ Charitable Society. The beer is a sessionable Kolsch-style ale "reminiscent of a lightly barbecued pineapple".

Some popular events are returning this year such as the Rare Brews and BBQ at Darby's Pub on May 30, the Biercraft Belgian Showcase on June 1, and the Cicerone vs Sommelier dinner on June 2.

The Hoppapalooza has moved from the Alibi Room to a larger venue at the Cobalt with more focus on live music. Taking place on May 31, it's now called the GIGANTABIROOMCOBALTAPALOOZA. There will be a tap takeover from Portland's Gigantic Brewing (along with some local options from Brassneck, Parallel 49, and Strange Fellow) and staff from the Alibi Room will be helping out.

Other interesting events include a June 1 "sour session", which pairs six courses with six sour beers at Merchant's Oyster Bar, and a June 4 "Forbidden Fruit" event that features fruit beers, fruit wheat beers, Belgians, and sours at Devil's Elbow Ale and Smoke House.

For more events see Vancouver Craft Beer Week's website.
