It's already the first of September, and you know what that means—Oktoberfest is almost here!

The German celebration starts officially on Saturday, September 19 in Munich. On the same day, Steam Whistle Brewing will be holding its Oktoberfest Party in Vancouver at the Vancouver Alpen Club (4875 Victoria Dr.)

Doors to the beer festival open at 7 p.m. The party starts with a keg tapping, and the night includes traditional German dancing by the Edelweiss Dancers and live music by the Rheinlander Band. Bavarian food will be available for purchase.

Costumes involving dirndl and lederhosen are encouraged, and there will be prizes for the best-dressed.

Tickets are $25 (in advance) or $30 (at the door), and includes a souvenir half-litre ceramic stein and the first fill of Steam Whistle Pilsner.
