Chef Stefan Hartmann and Uwe Boll will face each other in a cook-off tonight to settle once and for all who can make the better Sauerbraten dish.

Sauerbraten is a German national dish that combines a roast marinated in red wine, vinegar, and spices for six days and then served with red cabbage, potato dumpling or egg spätzle.

The unique aspect of Sauerbraten is that each region of Germany offers its own distinct cooking style. The Michelin Star chef and Bauhaus helmer Hartmann and restaurant owner Boll both come from different regions of Germany, and will offer different techniques to prepare the dish.

The dishes will be judged by Gail Johnson (The Georgia Straight), Alexandra Gill (The Globe and Mail), and Rasoul Salehi (Enotecca Wineries and Resorts Inc).
