New mini-series follows chef David Hawksworth’s nationwide search for young culinary talent
The Hawksworth Young Chef Scholarship Foundation has released a new 10-episode mini-series that offers a behind-the-scenes look at the organization’s search for aspiring young Canadian chefs.
Titled The Next Course, the series follows chef David Hawksworth as he travels across Canada encouraging young chefs in their pursuit of culinary excellence.
Viewers are taken to Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, and Montreal, where the school-age chefs compete in a series of heats during last year’s competition. Interviews with top chefs such as Vikram Vij, Rob Gentile, and Jérémie Bastien are also highlighted in each city.
The competition culminates with a two-part national finale in Vancouver, where one finalist takes home a $10,000 scholarship and le stage—an internship—at any restaurant in the world.
Check out the first episode of the series below, where Hawksworth begins his journey in Vancouver.
Applications for the foundation’s 2016 culinary competition are now being accepted from young Canadian chefs. For details or to apply, click here.
