Gastown foodies searching for veggie-oriented options have a new eatery to check out.

Meet on Main announced that is officially opening its second location today (February 15) tucked away in the courtyard at 12 Water Street.

After some test runs over the past few weeks, Meet in Gastown will be open for dinner at 5 p.m. every night in the space formerly occupied by the high-end Japanese restaurant Shirakawa. (A lunch menu will be coming soon.)

Meet's menu, which they call "veggie-friendly comfort food", is almost entirely vegan and gluten-free, offering fries, burgers, salads, and bowls.

The menu at Meet on Main (which opened in 2014 at 4288 Main Street) includes items as varied as the  Double Bacon-Double Cheez Burger (with coconut bacon, crispy seitan bacon, chao cheez, and queso), Noodle-y Thai bowl (rice noodles, shredded cabbage and carrots, bean sprouts, marinated tofu, with almond Thai sauce), and Not-Cho' Average Nacho Fries (house fries with cheezy vegan queso sauce, pickled jalapeño peppers, and pico de gallo).

While Meet in Gastown is opening up, another Gastown eatery is closing down on the same day. Nicli's Next Door is closing today while its neighbouring related restaurant, Nicli Antica Pizzeria, will continue operating.
