Vancouver’s most anticipated outdoor picnic takes place every summer, and this year’s Dîner en Blanc will return to the city on Thursday, August 18.

“2016 will feature the most loved details of years past, including a highly immersive and connected Secret Location that combines an open and diverse seating plan,” said an email sent by The Social Concierge, organizers of the popular event.

The concept of Dîner en Blanc is taken after a Parisian picnic event with the same name. Participants are required to follow an elegant all-white dress-code, and bring their own seating, table, food items, and dishware.

The location of the magical evening remains a secret until a few hours prior to the event. The waving of white table napkins and sparklers are traditions of the night.

In celebration of Dîner en Blanc’s fifth anniversary, a third more seats will be added. The extra capacity means more leaders will be recruited to help with organizing the dinner party. It doesn’t come without perks—leaders get a seat for themselves and a guest, along with five coveted invites.

Attendance to this dining event is only possible with a valid ticket. These tickets ($37 + $8 membership) are in high demand, and difficult to obtain unless you’re a returning guest or have been nominated by a returning guest for a chance to purchase a ticket.

The process is complicated, but Vancouverites are keen to get in on the party.

Last year, over 4,500 participants attended the classy soirée, which was held at Canada Place. Waitlists in previous years have reached over 30,000 people.
